I'm not entirely sure what made MAKING the kids' costumes sound like a good idea, but I won't be doing it again! I really thought that throwing a few patches and some raffia on Briggs' existing clothing and sticking Porter through an old box with some spray paint would be a matter of minutes. I planned to spend a little more time on Sophie's, but I told Tyler he was on his own and thanks to Old Navy, Sawyer was covered, so I thought I was good to go. Not so. I'm sure I spent the better part of a day each on Sophie's, Briggs', and Porter's costumes - although I did have a lot of fun with the spray paint and couldn't help even spraying his shoes. Then of course Halloween day came around and Tyler hadn't done a thing - claiming to have had no time (apparently the fact that he has had time to read most of The Lost Symbol this past week isn't relevant because it was almost entirely done in the bathroom. Hmmmm). But aside from the fact that I put many things I needed to get done on hold, it turned out great. They were so cute in their costumes! I'm so glad that they'll still let me dress them up! It's just a shame that I don't have footage of them singing and acting out their parts! Oh, and next year...we'll be buying!
Cute cute cute!! You guys look awesome. That little lion with his binkie is really quite adorable. And way to go on the costumes! Despite the pain, they turned out great.
Good job! They are awesome! I loved Briggs'! Not sure I would know what Tyler was! I guess I need to brush up on my Wizard of Oz! Loved the old hat though!
Having this picture on my blog is the only excuse I have to look at it...so it's here to stay.
Overheard at Our House
Yesterday as Tyler was having his Father/Son interview with Briggs they got talking about signs of the last days and Second Coming. Tyler told Briggs that there would be a lot of natural disasters such as tornadoes, earthquakes, and tidal waves. Briggs said, "Oh yeah! I know! And like losing a coin or Playstation and busted controllers!"
Tyler recently spent 5 hours in the emergency room with Porter after a particularly bad attack of an asthma like condition he has. Driving home at the end of the 5 hours Porter turned to Tyler and said, "Dad, I appreciate your obedience. You were very good and very brave."
A Recent Dinner Conversation:
Porter: (As Mom shoes a fly away from his head) This fly is my buddy Mom!
Mom: Well did you know that your buddy has poo-poo feet?
Porter: (Choked out between sobs and a torrent of tears.) Don't call my buddy a name! Why did you say that about my buddy Mom? He doesn't have poo-poo on his feet!
Nothing I could say made it better. He only cried more until I just apologized for the poo-poo name calling incident.
